This solo came out of The Place’s unique international research and development project Choreoroam. A solo for Darren and his drumsticks, this is an exploration of practice and the quest for perfection. Just as a drummer must lock and focus his co-ordination, measuring out a rhythm to entice people to dance, a simple rhythm can inspire armies to move. When the sticks take control that’s when the trouble starts.
Education
Master Class
Darren teachers a Cunningham based class with emphasis on working towards placement in the space and body. Followed by a creative session, biased on the current tour of Sticks and Bones. Students will devise new responses, developing their skills and challenging their physical boundaries.
Kids Rhythm Workshop
Darren workshop focuses on an energised and dynamic use of the body, developing rhythmic patterns based on the material from Sticks and Bones, developing movement and rhythm which will grow into a dance vocabulary. The workshop will Challenge the participants coordination and develop group confidence and freedom of personal expression.
